People are always swayed by fashion and celebrity trends when it comes to haircuts. They see their favourite celebrity rock a great haircut and immediately want to try it themselves. Unfortunately, what looks great on others might not look great on you. You need to consider your hair texture, type, and your face shape before you choose a haircut that works for you. The face type has a big influence on your haircut and here’s a brief introduction between the face shape and the length and texture of the hair:
#1 The Round Face
Short Hair
If you want to keep your hair short, make sure to chop it to a pixie cut. This would add texture and volume to your hair and balance your features. Pixie cuts, especially those that are a little layered and messy, can add height to your face and elongate it a little.
Medium Length Hair
If you don’t want to cut your hair too short, you can try a medium-length textured bob. Just make sure that it doesn’t frame your face and end at chin length. The hair should at least touch your collarbone. That would elongate your face and slim it.
Long Hair
Long hair can lay flat on the scalp because of the weight of the hair. If you want to keep that length, you should add layers and textures to it.
#2 Heart-Shaped Face
Short Hair
A short pixie with closely trimmed sides will look excellent with a heart-shaped face. The close sides would counteract the wide forehead and textured layered on the top would draw away from a sharp jaw line.
Medium Length Hair
Medium-length hair that is cut off at the collarbone and bone side-swept bangs would be perfect for a heart-shaped face as it would create balance with the forehead and jaw.
Long Hair
Long hair works with every face shape if you know what to do with it. Long layers with slight curls and waves in the bottom would look very flattering on heart-shaped faces. You can disguise the forehead and soften the jaw line with brow-length bangs.
#3 Oval Face
Short Hair
The modern and sophisticated angular bob is perfect for oval and long faced beauties. The bangs can hug the face shape and create good symmetry.
Medium Length Hair
Keep the hair slightly longer than the collarbone and add texture around the curve of your jaw ling with uneven bangs. This would ensure your hair doesn’t lay flat on the head.
Long Hair
If you have long hair, your face can also look long, especially if you keep it sleek and straightened. One way to shorten the face and add balance is to cut a side-swept fringe. That would shorten the length and disguise a wide forehead.
#4 Square Face
Short Hair
If you want to have short hair, cut the length so that it’s directly above the jaw and slightly below the cheekbones. This would remove emphasis from the harsh jaw line and soften the features.
Medium Length Hair
For medium length hair, cut to the shoulders and add ample layers. This would balance out the face and again jaw attention away from the jaw line. The uneven texture would disguise sharp angles.
Long Hair
If you have long hair, you can soften your safe with loose waves and curls. Keep the curls near the tips of the hair.
